Ok so I have a lot of catching up to do!! Last Thursday I went to La Sagrada Familia! I was with my orietation class, so I didnt get to go inside, but I will go back eventually I am sure.

I am just going to write a little about La Sagrada Familia and then post all the pictures together instead of commenting on individual pictures since I have so much to update.

La Sagrada Familia was mainly designed by Gaudi, until he passed away after being hit by a trolley. There is a lot of construction being done to it right now, which is highly controversial in Barcelona because the new stone is a different color then the old stone (which you can see in some of the pictures) and the arcitecture is STARKLY different.

The "front" of it is all representative of the birth of Jesus and his early life. This is the popular side and is Gothic and gorgeous!! The "back" is called the "Door of Death" in Spanish. This side is modern and very cubist. On this side, near the middle, there is a man dressed in a robe, facing the left - this is supposed to be Gaudi.

Here are the pictures of La Sagrada Familia

Isnt it gorgeous??
Well, the same day I went to the place that I think is the prettiest place in Barcelona. Oddly enough, it is a hospital! It looks like a little town, each "wing" of the hospital is located in a different building and all the buildings are connected by underground tunnels so that people who are sick do not need to go outside.
(It is right up the street from La Sagrada Familia)

Enjoy!
(one of my favorites!)

Last but not least, that night Hayley and I went to Las Ramblas, just to walk around and get some gelato (ps. I am going to put on 20 lbs from all the great gelato there is here!!) Anyways, walking back to the Metro, I saw my FAVORITE street performer I have seen yet, so I had to give me a few cents and get my picture taken....
(For those of you who don't know who that is, it is the character from "Nightmare Before Christmas")

Pictures from Valencia to come later tonight!
Adios!
